Kokan: A Narrow belt between Sahyadri mountain and Arabian sea length Nearabout 750 Kilometer is known as a konkan. Kokan, also known as a land of Lord Parshuram. It is a part of Maharashtra. Konkan made by five districts, north side Thane District, in middle Brihan Mumbai and Raigad district and south side Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts.
Natural Konkan: Konkan has got a lot of natural beauty. Konkan has 720 Kilometers beach and rainfall to here is about 300 inches annually. Konkan is attraction of tourist due to coconut and betelnut, beautiful and clean beaches, rivers, sea forts, forts excavations, hot water streams, mountainous ranges of Sahyadri and roads. Freshness and greeness of trees in rainy season, Unique waterfalls. This all feels like a picture. Village lake also a spedtiality of Konkan. 40% part of Konkan is forest. This forest we found lot of herbal medicines. Kokan is very rich in flora & fauna. In short Konkan has got gift of natural beauty.
Ganpatipule & Tarkarli: A Popular Tourist Place : Konkan is slowly becoming tourist destination. Number of tourists visiting Konkan is increasing every year. Ganpatipule and Tarkarli are attractive spots. Tourist visiting Ganpatipule for two reasons; one is holy place, very popular Lord Ganeshan temple also unique silver sand beach and naturally beautiful place. Tarkarli is 7 Km long virgin beach from Malvan to Devbag. It is also known for beautiful Tarkarli backwaters. Because of so many things tourist visiting Tarkarli and Ganpatipule are increasing every year. M.T.D.C is having very Luxurious resorts at both the places hence playing very important role in the development of tourisum.
Concept of Village Tourisum: People visiting here are enjoying beach and few more things but they do not have much of the activities here. So they stay for one or two days only. K.T.C. is planning that tourist visiting Tarkarli & Ganpatipule should experience rural konkan in its original form. Tourist should know about villages lifestyle like konkani delicious food, konkani culture, nature , backwaters etc. Some Villagers built cottages on the base of village house for the tourists to enjoy village, beach and fresh green cocount, betelnut trees. One can enjoy a big nursery developed systematically by the villager with keen interest nearby Ganpatipule. There are many different plants of flowers and fruits in this nursery demanding from different parts of the Maharashtra and outside.
Rural Konkan: Kokan is rural paradise of India. One can experience richness of rural India in Kokan. We can see independent villages fulfilling all the needs of people living there. Every village is having 12 Balutedars such as Carpentor (Sutar) who does carpentary works, Barber (Nhavi) who cut hair and beard, Goldsmith (Sonar) makes golden ornaments, Blacksmith (Lohar) makes iron tools, Potter (Kumbhar) who make spots, Oilman (Teli) who produce oil, Tamboli one who deals in betal leaf, Tailor (Shimpi) who stiches the cloths, Cobbler (Chambhar) who makes shoes, Kunbi (peasant) who cultivate the farm, Maratha who look after the law and order, Gurav (a devotee of god) for worship etc. Villagers are economically self dependent. All the villagers what work they want to do they do from eachother in their village itself. They do not go outside to fulfill their needs. Barter system exist in villages which is continious uptill now. All the skilled people are rendering their services to the farmers are cultivating of crops and all the farmers give them their share of crops after havesting. So villagers are happy what they have and not running behind happyness.
Herritage: One can see old structures like temples, houses and experience richness of Indian architects in the villagers. In old houses called chowsophy wada built, we can see here many interesting things like lying in chamber (Balant Kholi), son-in-law window (jawai khidhaki), underground room (Talghar), kitchen room, women room, gents room, Family head room, 3 verandahs i) small (Oti), ii) big (Padvi), iii) bigger (Angan) etc, in middle square place. In these villages we can experience small bridges called sakavs over the brooklets which villagers built themselves is artificially from the materials which produce in the village itself. We can see underground well 30 to 35 feet from surface having steps. There is a well constructed small port at the beach from there we can go around the sea by the houseboat. At the beach one can enjoy fishing with the fisherman.
1) About Cultural Tourism - During these weekend tours we organize various cultural programs for tourists which are performed by local artists. Such as Zakhadi Nrutya (traditional folk dance for Godess Gauri & Ganpati), Gomucha Nach (folk dance played by local fishermen community), Dashavtar, Naman (local drama of Sindhudurga & Ratnagiri). all these will be organised every Saturday for tourists at Ganpatipule & Tarkarli. Famous Kokani Filmstar like Mr. Vikaram Gokhale, Mr. Nana Patekar, Mr. Srikant Moghe, Mr. Mahesh Manjrekar. Famous personalities like Mr. Madhu Mangesh Karnik will be invited for this programmes.
2) Backwater Tourism - This will include ride in the backwater of Jaigad & Tarkarli backwaters. Tourists can experience virgin beauty of nature here, local fishermen life, fishing practices & can enjoy peaceful, untouched natural surroundings, watching birds.
3) Agro Tourism - In this type we take tourist to farms and give them information about biodiversity of the Kokan region. And show them some of the rare plants which are only found in Kokan region also, information about Medicine Plants.
4) Beach Tourism - Kokan offers various beautiful beaches. We take tourist to beaches and let them enjoy on those clear beaches.
5) Religious Tourism - in this type we take tourist to various religious places like Ganpatipule & Dhamapur etc.
6) Adventure Tourism : We arrange Motorbike Tour, Treck, Rivercrossing, Vally crossing, Paraceling, Snorkeling.
